You have the option of uploading your own hosted imagery layers. Hosted imagery layers are dynamic image services that run on ArcGIS Image Server sites your portal administrator has federated with the portal. This makes it easy to manage, publish and share imagery with your organization and for your analysis. However, your environment must be configured properly, and you must have privileges to publish hosted layers . You can begin publishing layers by accessing it through the Home screen or at any time on the side navigation menu under Publish Imagery.
Upload your hosted imagery layer
To upload your own hosted imagery layer:
- Navigate to the Upload Hosted Imagery area from the home page or the side navigation menu
- Provide basic information about your layer:
- Item Title (required)
- Item Summary
- Item Tags (required)
- Choose to share your layers with your organization or to keep it private.
- Click Next.
- Choose how the new imagery layer is configured when created. You have the options of:
- Image Mosaic Layer – Create one imagery layer by mosaicking many images. This is useful to blend overlapping images into a single, seamless image layer.
- Image Collection Layer – Create one imagery layer that manages a collection of many images. This is useful to query the resulting imagery layer for the properties of individual images.
- Click Next.
- Select files to upload. Additionally, you can click Clear to delete your uploaded files.
The files you upload will populate a list categorizing File Name, File Date, File Size, and File Type.
- Click Next.
A message appears stating that all the necessary information to publish a new imagery layer is fulfilled.
- Click Publish New Imagery Layer.
Depending on the size of your files and network bandwidth, this process may take some time. You can use other parts of ArcGIS Excalibur while your new imagery layer is publishing. You can navigate away from the page, but are able to monitor the progress of your layers through App Notices center at the top of the application. A new notification appears once your imagery layer is published.
